LED lights are the most energy efficient form of lighting available in Canada. With an energy efficiency of 90% compared to traditional lighting that is only 5% efficient, less energy is wasted as heat. Not only are LED lamps more energy efficient, but they produce brighter lighting, last longer and can deliver additional savings through reduced maintenance costs.
Lights are used in a wide range of applications throughout homes and commercial settings. Due to their wide range of usage, this is one area that can make a great difference in combating global warming.
In recognition of the environmental benefits and in an effort to sustain Canada's energy consumption issues, the Government of Canada has put in place several rebate programs and incentives throughout the Provinces. In fact, in 2012 the Government of Canada is implementing a ban on incandescent lighting to enforce the switch to more energy efficient technologies such as LED lighting.
